Dear Śrīla Prabhupāda,
Please accept our obeisances at your lotus feet.
On this momentous day of your glorious appearance, we cannot but express our eternal and
profound gratitude for your having rescued us from the darkest ocean of ignorance. Without
you, our lives would literally be meaningless, and our destiny would be inevitable: to continue in
the cycle of suffering and saṁsāra birth after birth. You are so pure and powerful that the mere
introduction to your Gītā can immediately lift us out of ignorance and give us the opportunity to
perceive our eternal reality.
There is no way we can ever repay you for even a tiny fraction of what you gave us, for which
you undertook so many austerities and risks. Our gratitude is boundless; how can we repay
having been given the opportunity, if we are sincere toward you and your teachings, to aspire to
attain a life filled with knowledge, eternity, and bliss? On one occasion, you asked a little boy in
the gurukula, “Who is God?” The boy replied, “God is Kṛṣṇa.” You asked him again, “And who
are you?” The little boy replied, “I am a servant of God, of Kṛṣṇa.” You emphatically asserted,
“This boy has attained the fulfillment of all the Vedic scriptures.” Only you had the power to make
even little children develop unwavering faith in Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
We earnestly pray that we may eternally perform some service that in some way satisfies you,
and through that service remain faithful eternally, and sincerely sheltered in the shadow of your
lotus feet.
Jaya Śrīla Prabhupāda. All glories to you!
