Dear Śrīla Prabhupāda,
Please accept our humble obeisances at your lotus feet, and our prayers on this auspicious day
of your divine appearance that we may remain actively engaged in the service of your mission to
spread Kṛṣṇa consciousness all over the world.
This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of your visit to South Africa, in October 1975, and to
commemorate this event, which brought auspiciousness to the entire country, we at ISKCON
Lenasia would like to renew and strengthen our commitment to remembering your pastimes and
your instructions, and to create a community that exemplifies the devotional principles you came
to teach.
It was in Yeoville, South Africa, Śrīla Prabhupāda, that you first received the second volume of
the Fifth Canto of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, and at that time you instructed your followers, “I give you
permission to read my books twenty-four hours a day.”
In the past year we achieved a number of milestones at ISKCON Lenasia. We established a
Govinda’s prasādam restaurant, which distributes prasādam to the public and brings people to the
temple, which is a place of Kṛṣṇa’s transcendental pastimes. We took steps toward greater self-
sufficiency by tapping and utilizing borehole water for our daily functions. We are continuing to
improve our facilities for receiving guests and devotees, and have made improvements in the con-
struction of the Deity department. There has been an increase in the number of temple residents
and congregation members who are engaged in the worship of Śrī Śrī Nitāi-Gaurahari, which is
a testimony to our commitment to creating a community of devotees who are happily engaged in
your preaching mission, expanding Kṛṣṇa consciousness to every town, village, and household in
South Africa.
This year, we at ISKCON Lenasia would like to renew our commitment to community out-
reach, book distribution, and education in our yātrā. To this end we have established a Book and
BTG Saṅkīrtana Team to focus on increasing book distribution and saṅkīrtana throughout our
yātrā as an offering of gratitude to Your Divine Grace for bringing Kṛṣṇa Consciousness to South
Africa and blessing our lives with auspiciousness.
Finally, we would like to pray at your divine lotus feet, Śrīla Prabhupāda, that all our efforts
at Śrī Śrī Nitāi-Gaurahari Mandir be dedicated to your great mission of making the whole world
Kṛṣṇa conscious, because that is the best welfare work for humanity and the only means of
making everyone happy.
Your aspiring servants,
The devotees of ISKCON Lenasia
