I offer my most respectful obeisances in the dust of the lotus feet of my exalted spiritual master, His Divine Grace Śrīla Jayapatākā Swami Ācāryapāda Mahārāja. I pray I can offer these obeisances carefully.
My dear Śrīla Ācāryapāda,
I feel unable to properly praise you, who are so unfathomable to the mundane mind. ‘sādhu-mārgaṇa-gamana’ doesn’t mean imitating the same activities as the great souls, rather it means accepting their mission and goals and striving with whatever god-given means are available, with all the intelligence and determination at one’s command, to accomplish them. So, in this way, you are doing something wonderful for Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa told Arjuna on the battlefield of Kuru-kṣetra:
mayaivaite nihatāḥ pūrvam eva
nimitta-mātraṁ bhava savya-sācin
It is already accomplished by the Lord’s supreme potency and desire. So you have taken this mission seriously.
Śrīla Ācāryapāda, you are an expert cowherd man who knows how to most skilfully use the rod to prod us onwards by poking us in our false egos. Please push me on. Please reach into my heart and take hold of theiiard knots of material attachments and illusion and twist them, as a dentist pulling teeth, and uproot them with a swift motion. Surely, I’ll be shocked, pain? - Yes!, but, like the removal 'of a bad tooth, most beneficial.
As you are so capable of seeing the hidden potentials of your disciples, I want to be capable to offer you what potential I have, as you wish to use it. During times of offering praise at your lotus feet, I wish to speak words mouth, like so many crackers falling from a box, will never please you, even if they are packaged in the most modern sophisticated terms. If I can succeed in actually offering you appropriate words of praise, then I may increase your bliss, for such words can be made only of a transcendental realization of the importance of your mission and your means of attaining it. Please help me to understand. I need your tearful explanations to keep me under your wing. I have only a block on my shoulder-stone. I honestly can say that I’d be most excited with a glimpse of what you want of this great ISKCON and what exact role you would have me fill within it.
I hope I will tearfully fall on the floor before you and say, in great ecstasy, “Śrīla Ācāryapāda, I understand, I fully understand.” I think that then I will fully know the import of your mission here on this planet and will then be able to glorify you in words fully befitting your divine position as the most perfect representative of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
Your eternal servant,
Viśvamūrti Dāsa.
