We, the servants of your servants at ISKCON of Silicon Valley, offer our most humble and grateful obeisances at your lotus feet on this most auspicious day of your appearance. Everything we have, everything we know, and every moment of clarity we find in this dark and confusing age comes from you. You crossed the Atlantic Ocean so that we might cross the ocean of repeated birth and death. This loving offering is our sincere attempt to express our gratitude to Your Divine Grace.
I. You Equipped Us to Defeat the Empire of Doubt
Śrīla Prabhupāda, we live in an age of skepticism. From the earliest years of our education, many of us absorbed a subtle and corrosive teaching: that nothing can truly be known, that all truth is relative, that the wisest position is to hold all convictions loosely, and that only conclusions reached through empirical science may be trusted.
You not only systematically dismantled this worldview, but you engaged us in a battle against it. You gave us a complete and rigorous answer to skepticism, pointing out that all human beings, in every domain of life, operate through faith in authority. The medical student trusts centuries of accumulated wisdom before personally verifying each finding. The student of mathematics accepts axioms – foundations not proven but required for any reasoning to begin. The question, you taught us, was never faith vs. no faith. The question was always, Which authority and why?
You taught us that the Vedic authorities and evidences – pramāṇas: perception, inference, and śabda – are not competitors but ascending levels of vision. The senses reveal fragments, logic arranges them, but transcendence must descend from beyond the limits of speculation. Therefore, for understanding the self, suffering, and our eternal relationship with Kṛṣṇa, you directed us to śabda: divine sound received through the transparent medium of realized teachers. You placed this understanding in our hands, and then you gave us the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam.
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is the transcendental science not only for knowing the ultimate source of everything but also for knowing our relationship with Him and our duty toward perfection of the human society on the basis of this perfect knowledge. It is powerful reading matter in the Sanskrit language, and it is now rendered into English elaborately so that simply by a careful reading one will know God perfectly well, so much so that the reader will be sufficiently educated to defend himself from the onslaught of atheists. Over and above this, the reader will be able to convert others to accepting God as a concrete principle. — Śrīla Prabhupāda, preface, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam
We live in Silicon Valley, a place where some of the world’s brightest and most ambitious gather to engineer ever more sophisticated forms of material absorption. Without the benefit of hearing the sublime teachings of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, people seek perfection through technological innovation, only to worry that those same advances may lead to humanity’s undoing. You have brought what people are missing: a philosophy not only refined enough to be taken seriously, but powerful enough to realign human life with its true purpose – going back to Godhead.
People hanker for perfect knowledge yet settle for what is merely available to them: incomplete knowledge. By bringing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam to light, you gave the world a spiritual science that answers the most fundamental questions that baffle humanity. The Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam does not ask us to embrace blind faith. Rather, it satisfies the sharpest minds at the highest level, working through logic, narrative, philosophy, and ultimately through direct experience to distinguish reality from illusion. You educated us in the spiritual science of the Bhāgavatam, showing us how to speak on it with clarity and confidence to a world drowning in uncertainty.
Your descendants in the community at ISV daily endeavor to engage people from every culture and background in Kṛṣṇa’s service by placing in their hands the most powerful philosophy in the world, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. Guided by your example, the devotees work constantly to refine their presentation of the Bhāgavatam, “in an interesting manner for the understanding of the audience.” This is our mission at ISV.
II. You Healed What the World Could Not Diagnose
Śrīla Prabhupāda, the people who come through the doors of your ISV temple – and the people we meet through our outreach, festivals, and online programs – come because they are suffering. They suffer from rāga – misplaced attachment, grasping at things that cannot satisfy them. They suffer from bhaya – fear born from their sense of impermanence. And they suffer from krodha – anger born from intellectual despair after hearing philosophies that cannot satisfy them. Rāga, bhaya, and krodha are not passing emotions. They are, as the Bhagavad-gītā tells us, ontological distortions – symptoms of the soul’s misidentification with matter. As Kṛṣṇa says in Bhagavad-gītā 4.10: “Being freed from attachment, fear, and anger, being fully absorbed in Me and taking refuge in Me, many persons in the past became purified by knowledge of Me – and thus attained transcendental love for Me.”
You taught us that this verse not only diagnoses the root cause of every conditioned soul’s frustration but also reveals how to administer the cure. The disease is rāga-bhaya-krodha – a cascade of attachment, fear, and anger that begins when the soul turns away from Kṛṣṇa, misidentifies itself with matter, and then suffers the inevitable consequences: grasping, losing, fearing, raging – and then grasping again.
Rāga – The hunger that cannot be filled
You explained rāga to us with the clarity of a physician. The soul is ānanda-maya – constitutionally blissful and constitutionally designed to love. When a living being’s love is directed toward Kṛṣṇa, it expands without limit. When it is directed toward temporary objects and relationships, it contracts into debilitating obsession, craving, and grief. The soul attached to the material world chews what has already been chewed – punaḥ punaś carvita-carvaṇānām – seeking juice from a dry husk.
You taught us that the cure for irrational attachment to the temporary is not to reject love but to redirect it toward Kṛṣṇa. By hearing Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam – its stories and philosophy – we achieve a higher taste that replaces the lower. Paraṁ dṛṣṭvā nivartate: when one has seen the superior, the inferior releases its grip.
We have seen this happen here at ISV, Śrīla Prabhupāda. People who enter the community with their hearts clenched over months and years, through chanting, association, and hearing the Bhāgavatam, gently uncoil their hearts and feel happy.
Bhaya – Fear overcome by shelter at Kṛṣṇa’s lotus feet
You taught us that bhaya – fear – is the inevitable consequence of turning away from Kṛṣṇa, only to lose oneself in a vast, dark, indifferent universe. Bhayaṁ dvitīyābhiniveśataḥ syāt – fear arises when consciousness becomes absorbed in the “other,” in separateness from the Supreme (Bhāgavatam 11.2.37).
The modern world, Śrīla Prabhupāda, is steeped in this fear. People clothe their fear in the language of strength – in independence, self-sufficiency, and the rejection of any personal God, claiming it to be a crutch for the weak. But underneath that language is the terror that there is no shelter, that the universe is cold, that consciousness is an accident, and that love is merely a useful fiction. Impersonalism and voidism are philosophical reactions to the soul’s fear of a personal relationship with God.
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam dissipates this fear by introducing us to Kṛṣṇa, the all-merciful and all-attractive Lord. Kṛṣṇa, who is full of beauty, charm, and tenderness; who plays with His friends and calves in Vṛndāvana; and who holds Govardhana Hill on His little finger, becomes our ultimate object of meditation. You showed us that Kṛṣṇa is real, that our relationship with Him is real, and that there is ultimately nothing to fear because He loves us.
At ISKCON of Silicon Valley, we are in the business of reclaiming our natural fearlessness and empowering others to reclaim theirs. Fearlessness – abhaya – is the natural consequence of taking complete shelter of Kṛṣṇa. We do this through the culture you gave us: through kirtan that fills the room with Kṛṣṇa’s direct presence; through Bhāgavatam classes that explain exactly why the soul need not be afraid; and through simple acts of devotion, like offering food to Kṛṣṇa and honoring prasādam.
Krodha – Anger transformed into compassion
The world we live in, Śrīla Prabhupāda, is an angry world. The anger of people who were promised happiness by materialism but did not receive it. The anger of people who are told that science has all the answers but find that it cannot quiet their fear of death.
You gave us the antidote – service to Kṛṣṇa. You gave us Prahlāda Mahārāja as the example: one whose consciousness was so absorbed in Kṛṣṇa that external provocations – however extreme – could not disturb him.
Here in Silicon Valley, we see that devotees practicing under your guidance – hearing, chanting, distributing the Bhāgavatam, and serving – feel happy despite the many distractions and provocations they face in their daily lives.
III. You Showed Us the Paramparā Is Alive in Us
Śrīla Prabhupāda, one of the greatest gifts you gave us – perhaps the one we are still learning to fully receive – is the understanding that we are not spectators of this tradition. We are participants. The paramparā does not flow around us; it must flow through us. You said it plainly: “Kṛṣṇa consciousness is not limited. The Gosvāmīs wrote so many books, Viśvanātha Cakravartī and all the ācāryas wrote books, and still, I am writing books. Similarly, also my disciples will write.” You similarly said, “Every one of you should be spiritual master next.”
You did not say this as a concession. You said it as a directive – a description of what faithfulness to our line of teachers looks like. You taught us that the paramparā is not a museum but a living current. It persists wherever devotees offer complete surrender to the previous ācāryas through faithful transmission of their message.
We take seriously our role in this. This community – your temple, Śrīla Prabhupāda – is not merely a place of worship. It is a place of transmission. Every class, every festival, every plate of prasādam we give, every book we place in someone’s hands – these are the paramparā moving through us, as it has always moved: one person at a time, one genuine connection at a time.
Our Prayer
Dear Śrīla Prabhupāda, you said of Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura that he left the work of spreading the saṅkīrtana movement unfinished so that we would have some service. That is his mercy. You have extended that same mercy to us. We pray to carry your teachings forward with dignity. We are your foolish, stumbling, but earnest servants. We chant your praṇāma-mantra every morning and remember that you came to lift the world out of its spiritual poverty.
We pray, therefore, that we may please you by our services – imperfect as they are – and that by your continued mercy, this community may grow into an ever-brighter and more powerful instrument for the saṅkīrtana movement of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. We pray to remain your ideal followers: perpetually students before you, always prepared to receive your guidance, never imagining that we have arrived.
We are servants of your servants, Śrīla Prabhupāda. All that we offer here – all the book distribution scores and Bhakti Community Bhakti Sanga Labhas, the garlands, the Deity worship, the kirtan, the prasādam, the classes, the scrubbing and sweeping, the late nights and early mornings, and all the small acts of service that no one records – are for you. All glories to you, Śrīla Prabhupāda!

Dearest Śrīla Prabhupāda,
Please accept our respectful obeisances at the dust of your lotus feet. On this most auspicious day of your divine appearance, we are very fortunate to have the opportunity to write to you and humbly offer our reflections on how you have cleared our vision, allowing us to see Kṛṣṇa’s hand in every aspect of our lives – past, present, and future.
In Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta (Ādi 1.45), it is stated:
guru kṛṣṇa-rūpa hana śāstrera pramāṇe
guru-rūpe kṛṣṇa kṛpā karena bhakta-gaṇe
According to the deliberate opinion of all revealed scriptures, the spiritual master is nondifferent from Kṛṣṇa. Lord Kṛṣṇa in the form of the spiritual master delivers His devotees.
Śrīla Prabhupāda, you embody the essence of divine mercy. While Kṛṣṇa may seem distant to our obscured senses, you appeared as the transparent via medium to bring Him into our immediate view. We recognize and acknowledge that every bit of clarity we possess is not our own achievement, but a gift of your unalloyed and unwavering compassion.
Looking Back: Gratitude for Protection
When we look back at our lives before we met your teachings, we see a landscape of confusion. Yet through your books, we now recognize that Kṛṣṇa was always there, protecting us even when we were unaware. You taught us that every hardship was a nudge toward Kṛṣṇa’s lotus feet. We thank Kṛṣṇa for the ultimate protection of sending you, His pure devotee, to rescue us from the ocean of birth and death.
Looking Ahead: Trust in the Lord’s Plan
When we look ahead at this uncertain world, we no longer feel fear. You’ve convinced us without a doubt that Kṛṣṇa’s got our backs and that He has the whole show on a string! Because of your instructions, we can trust that He has a plan for our purification. Our only desire is to remain tiny instruments in your mission, confident that under your guidance, the path home is secure.
Looking Around: Serving in All Circumstances
When we look around at the world today, we no longer see objects for our enjoyment or people to compete with. By your mercy, we see Kṛṣṇa’s energy everywhere. You taught us that the highest platform is to act as the “servant of the servant.” We pray for the strength to serve Kṛṣṇa in all circumstances – whether in joy or in sorrow – by sharing the message you so compassionately brought to us.
Looking Within: Finding Kṛṣṇa
Finally, when we look within, we are learning to find Kṛṣṇa residing as the Paramātmā in our hearts. Before your books touched us, our hearts were dark rooms filled with selfish desires. You lit the lamp of transcendental knowledge, revealing the presence of the Lord within. We are eternally grateful that you have reconnected us to the Witness within, guiding us back to our original, constitutional position.
Śrīla Prabhupāda, you are the lens through which we see Kṛṣṇa. Without you, we would be blind to His protection, doubtful of His plan, selfish in our interactions, and disconnected from our own souls. Thank you for giving us these “eyes of devotion.” We pray to remain forever servants of your servants.

We look back and see how you gathered the stray,
The lost and the lonely you led to the way.
From a storefront in New York to a worldwide family,
You protected our hearts and you made us all free.
We thank Kṛṣṇa for sending a father so dear,
Who built us a home and who conquered our fear.
We look ahead now at the seeds we have sown,
Trusting Kṛṣṇa’s great plan for the seeds that have grown.
We trust in the future, for your books are the basis,
Leading us home from all desolate places.
Ensuring the next generations find grace,
As they look at the smile of your lotuslike face.
We look around at the congregation so wide,
With Devotee Care as our compass and guide.
To serve one another in each circumstance,
To give every soul a spiritual chance.
We are servants of servants, as you have designed,
With a heart for the weary and a hand for the blind.
We look within and we find the Lord there,
In the heart of the teacher, in the student’s deep prayer.
The Supersoul whispers the wisdom you taught,

In this material world, the powerful illusory energy is constantly trying to divert the living entity from devotional service. Yet we have full faith that by following Kṛṣṇa and His sincere devotee – your good self – with humility and loyalty, we will always remain protected.
You emphatically instructed us, “No matter what happens, never leave this ISKCON society.” You also warned that if someone goes away under the pretext of a bad relationship between devotees, it is due to a lack of sincerity. We pray to Lord Kṛṣṇa to grant us the intelligence and strength to serve you – even in the humblest way – without deviation. You taught us to be respectful toward all Vaiṣṇavas, and we cannot be ungrateful or disobedient to you, Śrīla Prabhupāda.
Through your books and lectures, you have taught we fallen souls how to love and serve Lord Kṛṣṇa and His devotees. You revealed our true constitutional position and guided us in expressing our spiritual identity through the many activities of this Kṛṣṇa conscious movement.
Here at ISKCON Tallahassee we are trying our best to share this love for Lord Kṛṣṇa through harināma-saṅkīrtana in the parks, festivals, home programs, Dāmodara home programs, and our daily online Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam readings and in-person classes.
On this glorious day of your divine appearance, we pray that always, no matter what, you never allow us to leave this holy movement, which is the genuine and practical hope for all living beings.

Śrīla Prabhupāda, whatever meager devotion we have today is entirely due to your causeless mercy. You have given us everything: the holy name, the philosophy, the process of devotional service, the association of devotees, and kṛṣṇa-prasādam. You have built a spiritual home for us within your society, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, where we all can take shelter and grow.
At ISKCON Tampa, your presence is deeply felt in every kirtan, every class, every offering, and every attempt to serve. Your instructions guide our lives, your books nourish our intelligence, and your example inspires our hearts.
By your mercy, our small community is now endeavoring to expand your mission through the development of a new ISKCON Tampa temple, New Vraja-maṇḍala Dhāma, project and expansion. This effort is our humble offering at your lotus feet and an attempt to fulfill your desire to establish Kṛṣṇa consciousness in every town and village.
We envision this temple as a place where the holy name will be chanted constantly; your books will be distributed widely; people from all backgrounds will receive prasādam and spiritual knowledge; and families, youth, and children of all classes and genders will find shelter in devotional life.
We fully realize that this is not our project – it is your project. We are simply instruments trying to assist in your divine mission.
Śrīla Prabhupāda, you taught us that success is not measured by external achievements but by sincerity and purity of service. Therefore, as we work on this expansion, we pray for the strength to serve in a mood pleasing to you. You have shown us through your own life what true surrender means: complete dependence on Kṛṣṇa, fearless preaching, and unwavering faith in the holy name. Despite immense challenges, you never compromised the purity of the message.
In our daily lives – with our various responsibilities, distractions, and struggles – we try to hold onto your instructions. Sometimes we fail, sometimes we become weak, but your mercy gives us the strength to rise again. Each moment we are inspired by your determination, compassion, and deep love for Kṛṣṇa and all living entities.
Your words continue to illuminate our path: “Chant Hare Kṛṣṇa and your life will be sublime.”
On this most auspicious day, we offer our heartfelt prayers: may we always remain faithful to your teachings and develop a sincere taste for chanting the holy name. May we serve your mission with humility, cooperation, and devotion. May this Tampa temple and center expansion become an instrument for serving your mission and the spreading of Kṛṣṇa consciousness to one and all.
We know that without your mercy, we have no qualification. As expressed in the Guru-vandanā: yasya prasādād bhagavat-prasādo, yasyāprasādān na gatiḥ kuto ’pi. On this most auspicious occasion of your Vyāsa-pūjā, we, your insignificant servants in Thunder Bay, offer our heartfelt gratitude and prayers. Although we are in a small, remote city in Northwestern Ontario, we feel your presence deeply guiding our lives and our service. Your mercy continues to inspire us at every step.
Śrīla Prabhupāda, you crossed the ocean with nothing but firm faith in the holy name and complete dedication to the order of your spiritual master. Because of your sacrifice, the message of Lord Kṛṣṇa has reached even this distant part of Canada. What was once unfamiliar land is now touched by kirtan, prasādam, and your teachings.
By your causeless mercy, we now have a dedicated temple – the Vedic Cultural Center in Thunder Bay – offered in your service. This center stands as the only stand-alone ISKCON/Hindu temple in Northwestern Ontario, serving the community seven days a week. It has become a spiritual home for many – students, families, newcomers, and seekers – who come to experience devotion, peace, and connection with Kṛṣṇa.
Within this sacred space, we are trying to follow your instructions – chanting the holy name, distributing prasādam, studying your books, and serving the community. Under the guidance of our spiritual master, His Holiness Gopal Krishna Mahārāja, we are attempting to carry forward your mission with sincerity and cooperation.
Śrīla Prabhupāda, by your mercy, your mission is steadily growing in Thunder Bay. Through prasādam distribution, the Vedic Cultural Center now serves more than 20,000 meals each year, touching many lives with spiritual nourishment. Book distribution is also progressing steadily – your transcendental literature is reaching many homes through the distribution of small and large books each year.
We are especially encouraged by the next generation. Our children’s classes bring together more than fifty young students each week, where they learn the teachings of the Bhagavad-gītā and grow in devotional values. In addition, our bhakti-vṛkṣa programs and online preaching initiatives are supporting youth and young families in developing their Kṛṣṇa consciousness in a practical and sustained way.
By your mercy, we have also seen your movement expand through festivals in this region. What began as small gatherings has grown into large community celebrations. The Festival of India and Festival of Colours in Thunder Bay now attract thousands of participants each year. This expansion is now reaching Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury, where many people are experiencing kirtan, prasādam, and devotional culture for the first time.
From very small beginnings – simple gatherings with a few devotees – to serving thousands through festivals and outreach, we clearly see your invisible hand guiding everything.
Śrīla Prabhupāda, your instructions continue to guide our service: “If you love me, distribute my books.” Inspired by this instruction, we are trying, in our small way, to distribute your books and connect people to your teachings. We understand that your books are the foundation of your movement and the greatest gift to humanity.
At the same time, we are aware of our many shortcomings. Our minds are often distracted, our service imperfect, and our devotion unsteady. Yet your teachings give us hope and strength. Your books remain our constant shelter, reminding us that even the smallest sincere effort in devotional service is never lost.
Śrīla Prabhupāda, please bless us that this temple may always remain a place of pure devotion – a place where your teachings are lived, where the holy name is chanted sincerely, and where everyone who comes feels spiritually uplifted. Please help us serve with humility, unity, and determination.
Kindly empower us to expand your mission in this region – to reach more people, to distribute your books, to offer prasādam, and to build a strong spiritual community centered on Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Please remove our false ego and distractions so that we may become proper instruments in your service.
You have given us everything – philosophy, process, purpose, and a path back home, back to Godhead. Without you, we would remain lost in material life. Because of you, we have hope, direction, and a meaningful life in devotional service.

We want you to know – you are our heart and soul. You came to the Western world on the order of your Guru Mahārāja, carrying the mission of Kṛṣṇa consciousness purely in your heart with unwavering faith and compassion for all conditioned souls.
In that same spirit, we are trying to serve your mission here in Barrie, Ontario. We are small and limited, but we sincerely pray for your mercy so that this place may become fertile ground in the true sense, where sincere devotees can grow, deepen their faith, and remain steady in service to Kṛṣṇa.
