Vyāsa-pūjā 2021

Snigdha Mādhavī devī dāsī (Kolkata - India)

Hare Krsna, Srila Guru Maharaja! Please accept my heartiest respectful obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! All glories to you!

On this most festive occasion of Your Holiness’ 72nd Vyasa Puja, I am thrilled to glorify an iota of your oceanic qualities. Dear Guru Maharaja, it is simply not possible to fathom the depths of your heart for they are ever-expanding. Still even what is grossly perceivable on the crust could madden the one who observes it.

The pre-eminent quality that you operate by is not rules, it’s love. You have the selfsame fruits of love that Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda were distributing. And you are intoxicated like Nitai, therefore you do not care to make distinctions. Your relationship with Lord Nityananda is unusually special and finding Thakura Kanu Ramadasa’s words resounding your name is exceptionally enthralling– “jaya prema bhakti dātā-patākā tomāra/ uttama adhama kichu nā koilo bicāra. (Lord Nityananda has a flag. That flag gives prema-bhakti, pure love and devotional service. He never discriminates whether one is most elevated or most degraded. He gives the gift of pure love and devotional service to one and all.)

Your love is motherly, infinite, all-embracing and unambiguously inscrutable. You have accepted us as a burden of love at the cost of your health, peace of mind (we even make you have bad dreams), anxiety (over our deliverance) and the spiritual world itself (by choosing to remain here to connect us with Krsna). The pure Holy Name is prophylactic and antiseptic. But it’s distant due to our offences. You, being the pure devotee of the Lord, are similarly prophylactic and antiseptic, and getting your association is supremely purifying and utmost fortune-bestowing for this planet Earth and its residents. This is what we call causeless mercy. The paraphernalia of the spiritual world, the Lord, His eternal associates are not to be gotten without maturity and qualification in a sadhaka. But you are present among us, with all our faults and follies, unconditionally showering the sweetest love that’s only to be found in the spiritual world – what greater cause of ebullience could there be!

Your heart is so illimitable that it can accommodate all the conditioned souls of this material world. Just a speck of the dust of your lotus feet is enough to deliver millions of universes. You have come for that special mission, as the victory flag of the senapati bhakta, our dear grandfather Srila Prabhupada! There can be a great grand festival every day (trisandhyam) just to celebrate your appearance amidst us and your ineffable mercy on us.

On this blessed day, I pray that I may become an instrument of your mercy in this lifetime and assist you in fulfilling Srila Prabhupada’s mission. I pray that I may overcome all my weaknesses and become a worthy disciple.

Guru Maharaja, I am yet to awaken my Krsna prema but surely I love you. That is my hope, that Krsna would be pleased with me because I love His pure devotee representative. My area of study being English literature, these words from a bestselling novel express how I feel for you – “for you, a thousand times over…” I am so blissful, grateful and indebted to have found the shelter of a magnanimous master like you. I will eternally serve and love you, Srila Guru Maharaja!

Your insignificant daughter-servant,
Snigdha Madhavi Devi Dasi (Diksa disciple)
