Vyāsa-pūjā 2021

Bhadra Rūpa dāsa (Geneva - Switzerland)

Dear Beloved Guru Maharaj,

I offer my most humble and respectful obeisances at your lotus feet.

All glories to You. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

For 25 years I had one deep desire, i.e., to receive a personal instruction from you that I could dedicate my life to as a token of my gratitude for all your immeasurable love, sacrifice and compassion. I held this desire deep in my heart, praying for your reciprocation. In 2014, you had setbacks in your health. I feared that you would leave this world without fulfilling my desire. At the time I was visiting Radha Kunda. I revealed my heart in pray to Srimati Radharani, begging her to help fulfil my desire.

Following this, I was inspired to visit you with hopes of receiving my much-desired personal instruction. Immediately, upon my arrival, you asked me to play Vaisnava melodies on my quena (Andean flute) while you took prasad. When you finished, you enquired about the reason for my unexpected visit. I immediately fell at your lotus feet and I asked: “Guru Maharaj, by your mercy, in this life I have three abilities: as a distributor of Srila Prabhupada's books, as doctor (PhD) in educational sciences and as flautist-composer. Is there any of these activities or others that I did not mention, that would please you most that could I dedicate my life to?”

You reciprocated with my deepest desire and gave me my greatest treasure, a personal instruction to dedicate my life to. You instructed me to preach by composing and performing music for the Vaisnava Padavali (including the Gita Govinda), written by the associates of Lord Caitanya. Since then, I have dedicated myself cent per cent to the fulfilment of this instruction. It is my desire to make your dream of creating a musical revolution using these poems of the great vaisnava acaryas to change the world, into a reality in this lifetime. I intend to do this by educating people about these great works and disseminating them through my compositions and performances.

In 2018, I wrote an article that was published in the UN Special (the official magazine of the United Nations), about the glory of the Vaisnava Padavali and its immeasurable cultural and spiritual value to humanity at large by drawing a comparison with other ancient cultures and western culture. The United Nations has used my work on the Vaisnava Padavali and Gita Govinda to promote the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals as per the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in areas of critical importance for humanity and the planet.

In 2020, Sony Music Japan released the album "Rainbow of Endless Love" worldwide. This album was inspired by the Gita Govinda and includes its video clip. This project was an official collaboration between the National Academy for Performing Arts of Delhi,India, the University of Geneva-Switzerland and the Ithaca College in New York-USA. Record Collectors Magazine, the Japanese Billboard, elected this album as one of the best albums of 2020, along with albums by Elton John, Elvis Presley, Eric Clapton, Charlie Parker, Santana, Bruce Springsteen, AC / DC, and Jimi Hendrix.

Here are the lyrics in english of this video clip originally sung by Srimati Radharani who reveals secrets to her intimate female companion about her feelings describing the spell-binding beauty of Sri Krishna's form:

"His black hair with his peacock feathers,

From my sweet young boy,

Is like a thick black cloud,

Surrounded by a colorful rainbow,

I'm unable to stop thinking of my Shyamasundara,

Because He’s my soul,

He is playing on his flute, Mohana,

Music flows out from his lips,

Sweet as Bandhu, flowers from Vraja.

Shyam, my life,

We will see each other at the Kadamba tree,

His amazing love inspires me to sing this song,

Cupid immerses me in endless love,

Prince my beloved,

My sweet love,

My beautiful young boy,

He is my Shyamasundara”.

The following descriptions of 8 musical compositions of this album I wrote are summaries inspired by 8 poems from the Gita Govinda, which were reviewed by His Holiness Hrdayananda Maharaj.

1.- Sadness of Radhika (Andean parade): The moon rose bright in the sky. Radharani laments over her delay in meeting Shyama. She vented her pain to her friend that if he is not here, how can he bear the sadness of separation from her?

2.- Before the Date (Huayno): Shyama now waits for Radharani in a cabin near beautiful gazebos. Radharani's friends say to her, “Please follow him with joy and listen to his melodious flute, which attracts everyone. Do not be late!

3.- Maid's Desolation (Cueca): Radharani's abode is now like a forest and she feels like a lonely deer. She is singing "my Shyama, oh my Shyama" longing for him: She is desperate for Him.

4.- Showing My Love Deception (Panalivio): Radharani expresses her hurt heart because Shyama was not with her the other day: she always wishes him the best in any circumstance that makes him feel happier.

5.- Shyama's Beauty (Huayno): Radharani describes Shyama's beauty: her black hair is beautifully decorated with peacock feathers; It is like a thick black cloud surrounded by a rainbow of colors as he plays his Mohana flute melodiously.

6.- Qhari (Landó): Radharani praises the bravery of her beloved Shyama who fought and defeated her enemy warriors. Her face shines like the disk of the sun and her love moves away, bringing all bliss and peace.

7. Loneliness from Separation (Huayno): Shyama is grieved by the pain due to the separation from Radharani who is suffering the pains of separation. She is disturbed by the fever of her love for hers and asks him not to take his eyes off her.

8.-Falling in Love in Spring (Celebration): It is spring and Radharani is desperately looking for Shyama. Radharani delicately describes the beauties of the spring season - fresh spring flowers like Jasmine that inspire even the minds of shy women like her.

By the Guru's mercy, a lame man can climb mountains and a blind man can see. Everything that I have accomplished is proof of this.

Guru Maharaj, You are an eternally liberated soul. I pray for your empowerment to dedicate our lives to a new explosion of the expansion of Srila Prabhupada's movement in the Western world.

With eternal gratitude,

Your servant,

Bhadra Rupa das
