Vyāsa-pūjā 2022

Śrīhari Śrīdhara Dāsa (Bangalore - Sri Jagannath Mandir Seshadripuram - India)

Dear Guru Mahārāja,

Please accept our respectful obeisances unto your divine lotus feet! All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda!

When little Dhruva Mahārāja had the darśana of the Supreme Personality of Godhead as a result of his austerity, he did not know how to glorify the Lord. The Lord out of his causeless mercy touched his forehead with his conchshell, which made Dhruva Mahārāja get transcendental knowledge and thus he could glorify the Lord in a worthy manner. Our position is similar to him, we are like small babies who can’t speak proper sentences and your glories are unlimited. We are not even qualified to glorify your extraordinary Vaiṣṇava qualities. Therefore, we beg you to give us intelligence to properly glorify you.

We feel immensely inspired when we hear your glorifications by your confidential disciples. We feel delighted to have your virtual association in your Caitanya Leela classes.

In a song, Śrīla Bhakti Vinoda Ṭhākura writes,

kṛṣṇa se tomāra, kṛṣṇa dite pāro,
tomāra śakati āche
āmi to’ kāṅgala, ‘kṛṣṇa’ ‘kṛṣṇa’ boli’,
dhāi tava pāche pāche

Kṛṣṇa is yours; you have the power to give Him to me. I am simply running behind you shouting,

“Kṛṣṇa! Kṛṣṇa!”

Kṛṣṇa is yours, and you are Kṛṣṇa’s. You are absorbed in the pastimes of Caitanya Mahāprabhu in dreams, wakefulness, and even in deep sleep. We are your insignificant servants who are under the tight grip by the external energy of the Lord. You are our only hope.

tvaṁ naḥ sandarśito dhātrā
dustaraṁ nistitīrṣatām
kaliṁ sattva-haraṁ puṁsāṁ
karṇa-dhāra ivārṇavam
~Śrīmad-bhāgavatam 1.1.22

“We think that we have met Your Goodness by the will of providence, just so that we may accept you as captain of the ship for those who desire to cross the difficult ocean of Kali, which deteriorates all the good qualities of a human being.”

We beg you to kindly accept to be the captain of our ship and help us cross over the difficult ocean of material existence!

In a song written by Narottama Dasa Ṭhākura, he sings,

guru-mukha-padma-vākya, cittete koribo aikya,
ār nā koriho mane āśā
śrī-guru-caraṇe rati, ei se uttama-gati,
je prasāde pūre sarva āśā

My only wish is to have my consciousness purified by the words emanating from his lotus mouth. Attachment to his lotus feet is the perfection that fulfills all desires.

We can think of this verse when we meditate upon your lotus feet. Kindly bless us that we become perfect in practically following the meaning of the above-mentioned verse, that is to be able to strictly stick to fulfilling your instructions, and not desire anything else, life after life.

Your Servants,

Śrīhari Śrīdhara Dāsa and Premamayi pūjā Devī Dāsī

Śrī Jagannath Mandir Seshadripuram, Bangalore, India
