Vyāsa-pūjā 2018

Maṅgala Mādhava dāsa (Mayapur - India)

Dear Guru Maharaja,

Please accept my humble obeisances in the holiest dust of Your lotus feet. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and You, His divine son.

The great acharya, Srila Vasu Ghosh composed the song yadi Gour na hoito tabe ki hoito. If Lord Gauranga did not come to this universe, who would understand the glories of Srimati Radharani? Following suit, you wrote the beautiful song yadi Prabhupada na hoito which asks the essential question: if Srila Prabhupada did not come to this world how would we go through our lives? But all we can think on Your Vyasa Puja day is yadi Acharyapada na hoito tabe ki hoito? If You did not come to this earth to assist Srila Prabhupada, who would understand the importance of Lord Nityananda's primary goal: the preaching of bhaja Gauranga kaha Gauranga Laha gaurangera nam re: worship Gauranga, chant Gauranga's name and take Gaurangas name as your heart and soul. Since you always emphasize this request of Nitai in all of your teachings, we always feel overwhelmed when remembering the Nitai Kripa Pradayine part of Your pranam mantra.

We remember the time You were recounting the intense love Raghava Pandit had for Lord Nityananda. While describing the ecstasy He felt upon beholding Nitai's transcendental Form, You suddenly shouted out Nitai's Holy Name with such intensity, Your voice completely choked and tears were gushing from Your eyes. We are totally convinced that Your love for Nitai is not something that can be artificially achieved by anyone else. You are completely connected to Him in the most confidential way.

Your commitment to Srila Prabhupadas service is beyond compare. When He gave You the service of developing Mayapur, You never took a backseat and delegated it to others. You worked hard to transfer bricks for the development of the temple and guesthouse. You also worked hard day and night to procure the Nitai Pada Kamala boat and build up the traveling sankirtan parties here that brought so much pleasure to Srila Prabhupada. Even now, You ignore all bodily discomforts in order to disseminate the transcendental knowledge in Srila Prabhupada's books to us fallen souls.

This past year, there has been one book that has been a lucid guide for us regarding the glories of the Holy Name market and the phenomenal workings of reciprocation within Krishna consciousness. That book is Sri Godruma Kalpatavi, which You have mercifully brought to the attention of the Vaishnava community. Your commentaries on these tenets were highly insightful. Together You and Bhaktivinoda Thakur elucidated the currencies for buying the different gradations of chanting the Holy Name. In this marketplace, sraddha is the smallest unit of currency but it is sufficient to purchase the Holy Name. Prem is the highest unit and commensurates with sarva yukta nama, or the Holy Name imbued with all loving mellows. But throughout this all, we are just thinking that association with a pure devotee like You is akin to a large donation bank where You are freely giving out any unit of money one desires. Those who see Your steadfastness to Srila Prabhupada's mission will certainly develop sraddha, and those who dive deep into Your transcendental vani will certainly develop prema without excessive endeavor.

Your entire life is a perfect example of Nitai Gaura consciousness so we are completely inept at glorifying You sufficiently. When Anantadev, who holds innumerable universes upon His head, can not reach the end of Nitai Gauranga's glories, how are we, insignificant jivas, supposed to glorify even an iota of Your glories when the pure devotee of The Lord is even more glorious than The Lord Himself? Therefore, please forgive our feeble attempt and bless us to be able to serve Your senior disciples who are imbued with Your potency and qualities.

Your most fallen servants,

Mangala Madhav das and
Nityanandi dasi
