Vyāsa-pūjā 2023

Rūpamayī Sudevī dāsī (Bangalore - Whitefield - India)

Dear Guru Mahārāja,

nama oṁ viṣṇu-pādāya kṛṣṇa-preṣṭhāya bhū-tale

śrīmate jayapatākā-svāmin iti nāmine

namo ācāryapādāya nitāi-kṛpa-pradāyine

gaura-kathā dhāma dāya nagara-grāma tāriṇe

Please accept our respectful obeisances unto your lotus feet. All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda! All glories to you!

On this auspicious occasion of your 74th Vyāsa-pūjā, we shall attempt to glorify you, although we have no qualification.

We wholeheartedly thank you for accepting us, extremely fallen and useless souls under your shelter. We are devoid of good qualities. Your mercy is all that we are made of. If you are not merciful unto us, we can only weep, and we will not be able to maintain our lives.

jogyatā-vicāre, kichu nāhi pāi,

tomāra karuṇā-sāra

karuṇā nā hoile, kāndiyā kāndiyā,

prāṇa nā rākhibo āra

On this auspicious occasion, we would like to reinforce our meditation on our initiation vows. We meditate on the fact that you have extended your stay on this planet to fulfil Śrīla Prabhupāda’s instructions. It is ecstatic to hear ecstatic pastimes of Lord Caitanya from you, an ecstatic eternal associate of Lord Caitanya!

Guru Mahārāja, your enthusiasm is unparalleled. We were so fortunate to watch your kīrtana on New Year’s Eve this year. It reminded us of New Year’s Eve 2017- it was the first time we got your darśan, in Bangalore, and how you were dancing to the kīrtana ecstatically, beyond physical limitations. You teach us all the principles verbatim by your own example. You lucidly demonstrate the principle, ‘I am not this body but a spirit soul.’ We were deeply inspired when someone asked you how you were doing and you replied, “I am very happy but my health isn’t supporting.”

You often mention these lines: ānandera sīmā nāhi, nirānanda dure jāi! And you also demonstrate these lines practically. We recall the time when you mentioned being happy as a simple brahmacārī, cycling in Māyāpur, and chanting all day, despite the fact that your father and grandfather were millionaires.

You personify the qualities of a spiritual master that the Vedas sing of (vede gāya jāhāra carito). You embody the twenty-six good qualities of a Vaiṣṇava. You preach by example. It is exemplary how you, being a walking Bhagavat yourself, are pursuing different degrees like Bhakti-śāstrī, Bhakti-vaibhava, etc. just to inspire us.

All glories to the most auspicious Kāmada Ekādaśī, when you appeared! The epoch of your appearance and activities themselves explain your glories. The turn of events right from the year you appeared to the year you arrived in India, amidst the multifarious wars fought all over the world on a geopolitical platform, have their own metaphysical significance. And then, you joined Śrīla Prabhupāda’s army, Lord Kṛṣṇa’s army, and even after more than 5 decades, you are still on duty!

Guru Mahārāja, with each day passing, we learn how deeply compassionate you are, completely absorbed in the mood to preach unlimitedly and deliver all the fallen souls. You inspire me everyday with your daily activities- how each and every activity is for pleasing Śrīla Prabhupāda and his mission, which is non-different from the mission of Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa Caitanya Mahāprabhu, of yāre dekha, tāre kaha ‘kṛṣṇa’-upadeśa.

We again and again offer our respectful obeisances unto you, who is attached to fulfilling the desires and instructions of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda and the previous ācāryas. By bestowing the mercy of Nityānanda Prabhu and spreading the glories of the abode, transcendental pastimes and instructions of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, you are delivering all the inhabitants of the towns and villages.

Śrīla Gurudeva, by your blessings, we have been engaged in Bhakti-vṛkṣa preaching for over a year. One of our Bhakti-vṛkṣa members chants 16 rounds every day, while another chants 12 rounds every day. We all seek your blessings for our Bhakti-vṛkṣa members. Please bless us so that we can act as instruments in awakening the dormant Kṛṣṇa consciousness in them.

We beg for forgiveness for the offences that we have committed, knowingly or unknowingly. We seek your mercy and blessings so that we can fulfil your instructions.

Your spiritual children,

Sarvanātha Kṛṣṇa Dāsa
