Vyāsa-pūjā 2023

Nimāi-Priyā (Reading - United Kingdom)

Dear Gurudeva,

Please accept my respectful and humble obeisances. All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda and Yourself.

nama oṁ viṣṇu-pādāya kṛṣṇa-preṣṭhāya bhū-tale
śrīmate jayapatāka svāmin iti nāmine
nama ācaryapādāya nitāi-kṛpā-pradāyine
gaura-kathā-dhāma-dāya nagara-grāma-tāriṇe

Guru Mahārāja, I feel grateful that you have accepted me as an aspiring disciple and taken me under your shelter. You have also awakened me from my material slumber and are guiding me back to Godhead.

Here is my poem for you:

Dear Gurudeva,
Oh, what effort you have made,
To compose Māyāpur Dhama
where Gaurāṇga distributes kīrtana.
You inspire me to spread
the message Prabhupāda has led
of Gaurāṇga’s special mercy to everyone I meet
walking down the street!

We have been in the association of the Reading Yātrā with Amala Mañjarī Mātājī, Viśāla Gaurāṇga Prabhu, Pratāpamāya Nitāi Prabhu and Penny and they’ve been kind to us and they’ve inspired me to do more sevā.

Right now we are in Cornwall and my three sisters, my Mamma (Devaki Bhakti Devī Dāsī) and I are about to get a home in Newquay after a year of being homeless. I’m very excited to have a fresh start for our Jagannātha, Baladeva and Subhadra and Nitāi Gaurasundara! I am trying to chant sixteen rounds a day to please you and Śrīla Prabhupāda but sometimes I find it hard to focus so please will you bless me to have a taste for Hari Nama Prabhu.

We hope to be having beach bhajanas and Kṛṣṇa kathā on the beach!

My favourite śloka I’ve learnt so far is: Bg. 4.34

tad viddhi praṇipātena paripraśnena sevāyā
upadekṣyanti te jnānaṁ jnāninas tattva-darśinaḥ

“Just try to learn the truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him submissively and render service unto him. The self-realized soul can impart knowledge unto you because he has seen the truth.”

It’s my favourite because you’ve accepted me as you’re aspiring disciple and because you have seen the real truth, you’re like the shepherd and I’m like a sheep so I trust you will guide me to do what’s right for my spiritual life.

Your humble servant Nimāi-Priyā (aspiring) (9 years)
