Bhāgavatī Subhadrā Devī Dāsī (Mexico City - Mexico)

All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda,

All glories be to Śrī Guru and Śrī Gaurāṅga,

All Glories be to my eternal father Jayapatākā Swami,

All the glories for the devotees of Lord Kṛṣṇa,

nama oṁ viṣṇu-pādāya kṛṣṇa-preṣṭhāya bhū-tale
śrīmate jayapatākā-svāmin iti nāmine

I offer my respectful obeisances to His Divine Grace Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja, who is very dear to Him Lord Kṛṣṇa, because He has taken shelter at His lotus feet.

namo ācāryapādāya nitāi-kṛpa-pradāyine
gaura-kathā dhāmadhāya nagara-grāma tāriṇe

I offer my respectful obeisances to His Divine Grace Śrīla Jayapatākā Swami Mahārāja, who is dedicated to serving the wishes, instructions, and lotus feet of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedadnta Swami Śrīla Prabhupāda and the previous ācāryas, He is freely distributing the mercy of Nityānanda Prabhu, and distributing the glories of the pastimes, instructions and transcendental abode of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. He is preaching Kṛṣṇa Consciousness to all the inhabitants, both of villages and peoples, thus liberating them from the conditioned material life.

-Gurudeva, please, I beg you again and again to accept my respectful obeisances.

Only by his infinite mercy can a conditioned soul like me hope to find light in a world full of darkness. His knowledge dispels any doubt as to the material conditions, governed by goodness, passion and ignorance.

As the scriptures describe him and sing his glories, I quote the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam Chapter 6 Chapter 15 Text 16:

तस्माद्युवां ग्राम्यपशोर्मम मूढधियः प्रभू.
अन्धे तमसि मग्नस्य ज्ञानदीप उदीर्यताम्

tasmād yuvāḿ grāmya-paśor
mama mūḍha-dhiyaḥ prabhū
andhe tamasi magnasya
jñāna-dīpa udīryatām

tasmāt - therefore; yuvām - you two; grāmya-paśoḥ - of an animal like a pig or a dog; mama - me; mūḍha-dhiyaḥ - that I am very foolish (for not having spiritual knowledge); prabhū - oh, my two masters!; andhe - in blind; tamasi- darkness; magnasya - of whom he is absorbed; jñāna-dīpaḥ - the torch of knowledge; udīryatām - let it light up.

You are great personalities, so you can give me true knowledge. I am as foolish as a dog, a pig or any other street animal, for I am immersed in the darkness of ignorance. So, I ask you, please, light the torch of knowledge and save me.

In the words of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedantha Śrīla Prabhupāda,

Extract of the Meaning: This is the way to receive knowledge. We must give ourselves at the lotus feet of a great personality that can give us true transcendental knowledge.

For that reason, the scriptures say: tasmād guruṁ prapadyeta jiñāsuḥ śreya uttamam:

"The person who wants to understand the supreme goal, the maximum benefit of life, must go to a bona fide spiritual master and surrender to him."

Only one who is truly willing to receive the knowledge that dispels the darkness of ignorance is apt to go to a guru or spiritual master.

Tad-vijñānārtham: We must go to a guru to understand the transcendental science of the spiritual life. It is said in the scriptures:

om ajñana-timirandhasya janañjana-salakaya
caksur unmilitam yena tasmai śrī-gurave namah

"I was born in the darkest ignorance, and my spiritual master opened my eyes with the torch of knowledge. I offer you respectful obeisances.

This is the definition of guru: *He who enlightens his disciple and saves him from rotting in the darkness of ignorance of the material world, is the true guru.*

So Gurudeva, I am no one to receive your protection, and yet by your infinite mercy and without cause to all the living entities of Kṛṣṇa, you accept me, and it is through you that I can pretend to serve the servant of your servant, with the desire that he be pleased with my service and thus begin to develop the qualities necessary to serve Divine couple Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa.

His love for fallen souls has no limits, he is always at the service of his beloved spiritual master AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Śrīla Prabhupāda, as a trustworthy copy in life of his work and teachings.

I am deeply grateful for all that he gives me, from his shelter, knowledge and mercy, even for allowing me to have the relationship of eternal father and spiritual daughter.

Thank you Guru Mahārāja for choosing to serve Lord Caitanya, in conditions not very physically rewarding, as always every step he takes, every word that comes out of his mouth is an example to follow the perfection of life itself.

My dear Gurudeva, you are kṛṣṇaika-saraṇa, you are completely sheltered in Kṛṣṇa, so you are an expert in becoming an instrument of His Love, where all you do is maintain service to Kṛṣṇa and share your transcendental knowledge with fallen souls.

Without more to say, I remain eternally anchored to your service, hoping that the present will find you with better health. Asking Kṛṣṇa for His mercy to keep his presence constant in my mind and heart.

Your would-be servant,

Bhāgavatī Subhadrā Devī Dāsī (Dīkṣā)
