Hare Kṛṣṇa dear Guru Mahārāja,

Please accept my humble respectful obeisances at your lotus feet.

All glories to you Guru Mahārāja!!!

All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda!!!

Śrīla Gurudeva, on the occasion of your Vyāsa-pūjāthis year, I pray to Śrī Śrī Rādhā Gopīnātha, Gaura Nitāi, Jagannātha Baladeva Subhadra and Narasiṁhadeva to protect you and bless you with good health.

Recently, when we were in Māyāpur, we asked how you were, and you emphatically said, “I am fine, but my body is not cooperating”. When we asked about your travel plans to Australia, I was simply dumbfounded at your reply. You said you planned to come to Melbourne and then travel to Sydney. From Sydney, you will travel back to India for a meeting and, after that, visit Perth. You had just recovered from the health issues during your visit to Bangalore. Yet, you were eagerly planning to spread your mercy across the globe. I meditate on how to imbibe your mood to spread Mahāprabhu’s glories despite physical obstacles.

In one aspect, I was trying to come up with reasons why travelling during December and January to Australia may not be ideal due to your skin cancer condition. But, before I could say anything, you told me how people go to beaches due to high temperatures. Immediately, you taught me that your spiritual master knows everything and that you had already considered several factors in your travel plans. How foolishly I was thinking, and you removed my anarthas so expertly. I would have felt humiliated if a similar situation happened with someone else. Rather, I was relishing how great my spiritual father is. I understood there was no other shelter where I could get rid of my anarthas. Please I beg you to remove my anarthas so that I can serve your sincerely and effectively.

In Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, a verse talks about the duty of a true disciple.

etad eva hi sac-chiṣyaiḥ kartavyaṁ guru-niṣkṛtam

yad vai viśuddha-bhāvena sarvārthātmārpaṇaṁ gurau

“This indeed is the duty of all true disciples: to repay the debt to their spiritual master by offering him, with pure hearts, their wealth and even their very lives.”

You are a perfect example of a true disciple, as described by Sandipani Muni. When I want to find an example of someone with a pure heart who has dedicated their life to their spiritual master, I cannot think of anyone other than you. No wonder Śrīla Prabhupāda gave you the name “Jayapatākā.” I beg for your mercy so that I can become your true disciple. Nothing for me and everything for you.

Once again, I repeat the same wish I placed before you every year. Myself, my wife Śrī Guru Bhakti devī dāsī and my son Acyutānanda Mādhava dāsa are trying hard to bring many souls unto your lotus feet with the help of our Bhakti-vṛkṣa devotees. Everyone is very sincere to please you except me. My sincere heartfelt prayer to you to bestow your mercy upon them so that all of us can be fixed in your service.

I am struggling to be a good father to my son and a good husband to my wife. Please help me so that I can guide both of them materially and spiritually.

On this auspicious day it is my sincere prayer that please help myself, my wife, and my son to remain in the service of your lotus feet without succumbing to the materialistic pleasures. I also sincerely pray to Lord Narasiṁhadeva to always protect you so that more and more conditioned souls can be delivered by your mercy.

your fallen and unworthy servant begging for your mercy,

Anandamaya Gopīnātha dāsa (Dīkṣā Disciple)
