Vyāsa-pūjā 2024

Seva Padmā devī dāsī (Śyāma Deśa - Middle East)

Dear Guru Mahārāja!!

please accept my most humble obeisances!! All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda! All glories to you!

On this auspicious day of your 75th Vyāsa-pūjā, I pray to the Lord to bless you always with good health and long life.

My dear spiritual father, it’s only by your causeless mercy that I am able to practice spirituality daily. I am very indebted to your causeless mercy to accept me as your disciple.

Your 75th Vyāsa-pūjā is the celebration for all your disciples. I feel so happy that my spiritual father is so glorious that he is constantly serving Kṛṣṇa and Śrīla Prabhupāda. Scriptures like Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam list the qualities of a pure devotee. You are a living embodiment of the qualities of pure devotee as listed in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam. I don’t have to imagine a mahā-bhāgavata based on what is said in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, because Kṛṣṇa being very kind and has given me Your association so that I can see how a mahā-bhāgavata leads his life. I really feel very fortunate to get your association and blessings. My only desire is that I should be able to serve you eternally. Sometimes I feel I should have male body to serve you personally. I remember once Dr. Shiromani was touching your feet to see whether there was any swelling, and I was standing there, and I just murmured that you are so fortunate that you are able to touch and serve Guru Mahārāja personally. Being in the female body, I do not have the opportunity to touch you. Hearing my murmur, you very kindly asked Śiromaṇi to keep her hand on my head so I get the dust of your lotus feet on my head as well. Guru Mahārāja you are merciful that you always want to make us feel happy.

Guru Mahārāja, I always long for your merciful glance. These days we keep hearing that your health is deteriorating and that make me worried I really want to be serious in my devotional service and pray to Prabhupāda and Kṛṣṇa that you be with us for long long time.

Guru Mahārāja, you have done so much for fallen conditioned souls like me to bring me and keep me in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. I need your blessings to do something to make my spiritual father happy by my acts.

Your desire is to bring as many fallen soul to the lotus feet of Śrīla Prabhupāda and Lord Gaurāṅga. You are constantly thinking have to encourage us to be more active and Kṛṣṇa consciousness. I remembered in my initial days of Kṛṣṇa consciousness I was told if I need to get your attention I need to bring new souls to Kṛṣṇa consciousness. You are happy to see more and more people becoming happy by chanting and following Mahāprabhus footsteps. Since than I am trying to make an effort, but because of my insincerities and arrogant nature, I am not able to do so. On your Vyāsa-pūjā day, I want to remember and follow all the instructions given by you which make you happy. I think that would be my humble gift to you on your appearance day. I am laying down below your instructions that I plan to follow:

1. I will chant my 16 rounds and follow the 4 regulative principles very sincerely.

2. I will not hurt any Vaiṣṇava, and if by chance someone is hurt by me, I will ask forgiveness.

3. I will read Prabhupāda books everyday.

4. I will cooperate with devotees.

5. I will try to distribute the knowledge which we receive through guru-paramparā.

6. Help you to spread the Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

I just want to remember and meditate on how Śrī Kṛṣṇa has given me such a wonderful Spiritual Master and how my Spiritual Master has so kindly given me Śrī Kṛṣṇa. And then I can follow with that by chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare. I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to hear your classes everyday. I strongly believe that if I can just listen and remember your vāṇī every day and follow your instructions, I may be able to sustain my spiritual life.

At the end I just remember the śloka,

yasya deve parā bhaktir
yathā deve tathā gurau
tasyaite kathitā hy arthāḥ
prakāśante mahātmanaḥ

“Only unto those great souls who have implicit faith in both the Lord and the spiritual master are all the imports of Vedic knowledge automatically revealed.” (ŚU 6. 23)

I pray to your lotus feet that until my last breath I should have complete faith in you and Kṛṣṇa. Please also bless my Bhakti-vṛkṣa family to advance in Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

Yours insignificant daughter,

Seva Padmā Devī Dāsī
