Dear Guru Mahārāja,

Please accept my humble obeisances at Your lotus feet.

Time and time again this unworthy soul needs the reminder that I am only made of mercy that You kindly bestow upon me.

Nothing is to my credit. Nothing is truly my endeavour. Nothing is a result of my endeavours, for everything that I am able to attempt or perform is only due to Your kind mercy on me.

I have read in scriptures that devotees in Kṛṣṇa consciousness are kṛpā-siddhas—speaking for myself, I often need the reminder that I can attain inner fulfilment and perfect my life only by Your causeless mercy, and not by my own sādhana or by my efforts/endeavours in life.

Only by receiving the mercy of Guru and Kṛṣṇa will the seed of the devotional creeper grow.

Guru Mahārāja, because You so strongly carry the love, blessings, and instructions of Your spiritual master, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedānta Swami Prabhupāda, in Your mind, heart, and soul—as Your very life—I know that Your mercy encompasses the mercy of the entire guru-paramparā as well as the Supreme Lord.

By the satisfaction of the spiritual master, the Supreme Personality of Godhead becomes satisfied. And without satisfying the spiritual master, there is no chance of being promoted to the plane of Kṛṣṇa consciousness.

Just as a baby is connected to the mother via an umbilical cord, similarly, I know that we are all connected to You, despite the physical distance, via an invisible umbilical cord from which Your merciful reciprocation flows. And it is this invisible umbilical cord that gives us connection to the guru-paramparā and our reconnection to the Supreme Divine Couple, Śrī Śrī Rādhā-Govinda. I cannot even begin to understand how fortunate I am to be at the receiving end of Your kind mercy.

Thank You, dear Guru Mahārāja, for Your exemplary nature and attitude that we can always look up to. Thank You for always encouraging Your disciples to also assist You in fulfilling the instructions given to You by Śrīla Prabhupāda.

My contribution in this regard is smaller than the squirrel’s contribution in assisting Hanumān, servant of Lord Rāma, to build a bridge to Laṅkā. Yet I know that You value each and every devotee’s small attempts, and it's the efforts, not the results, that matter.

On this glorious occasion of Your Vyāsa-pūjā, I humbly beg to always remember that I am a mere instrument, and it is only by Your mercy that I can feel fulfilled!

Your unworthy servant pleading for Your mercy,
Gauraprema Gāyatrī dāsī
