Hare Kṛṣṇa Guru Mahārāja

Please accept my humble obeisances.

All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda!

Guru Mahārāja, it is my greatest fortune that I have you in my life. It is very difficult to understand how a person like me, who is so sinful in actions, thoughts, and words, has received this fortune to have you in my life. And what is even more astonishing is that you accepted such a person as your disciple. I do not know what my fate would have been—how I would have ever escaped from this material world or from my sinful tendencies—if you were not there for me. All my actions were simply leading me to hell, but YOU SAVED ME! You gave me hope that even I could attain Kṛṣṇa-prema if I sincerely follow your instructions.

And this is just the story of one fallen soul like me... but you are saving millions of souls out there, distributing the process of achieving śuddha Kṛṣṇa-prema to everyone. Your mercy is undoubtedly inconceivable.

You knew everything about me—all about my sinful activities—yet you gave me the opportunity to serve your lotus feet when I came to you. You knew that I had used these hands only for sinful (sense gratification) activities, yet you allowed me to serve your lotus feet with these very hands. It is absolutely impossible to understand your causeless mercy... YOUR MERCY IS MY ONLY HOPE.

You are always engaged in the service of Śrīla Prabhupāda and the Vaiṣṇavas, tirelessly helping living entities come closer to Kṛṣṇa. You have so many huge responsibilities and innumerable services, yet despite these higher responsibilities, you never hesitate to help anyone on a personal level. Oh Gurudeva! This quality of yours simply shows how much compassion you carry in your heart—you NEVER TURN AWAY from anyone who approaches you for help.

Despite having all kinds of physical challenges, you always put others first. You always choose to help others before even thinking about yourself. Your selfless service wins the heart of everyone—even the hardest-hearted person would melt upon seeing the selfless service you render to all.

Many people preach philosophy through eloquent lectures, but you are different—because you preach philosophy by living it. Many people know that we are not the body, but the soul, but you practically demonstrate it. You are physically handicapped, and an ordinary person in your situation would have given up on life. But you, Gurudeva, have shown the entire world that this body is not everything—that there is something beyond this body that truly matters. You have shown the world that real happiness comes from carrying Kṛṣṇa within one’s heart.

Your qualities are divine and inconceivable.

My dear Guru Mahārāja, I have committed many abominable offenses at your lotus feet, for which I feel deeply guilty. I struggle so much to develop love for Kṛṣṇa, but because I am very weak, I always fall for Māyā’s tricks. Guru Mahārāja, I beg for your forgiveness for all my sins and offenses. Please forgive me.

At last, Guru Mahārāja, I pray to you: Please give me spiritual strength so that I can serve you, Śrīla Prabhupāda, and Kṛṣṇa my entire life without falling for Māyā. The love and care that you have given me is unlimited. I am eternally indebted to you for that. I will eternally try my best to repay my debt by serving you and Śrīla Prabhupāda beyond my potential.

Your fallen servant,
Premasindhu Dāsa
