On this auspicious occasion of your 76th Vyāsa Pūjā, although I am an unqualified and fallen soul, I still wish to express a few words of appreciation for all the mercy you have bestowed upon fallen and conditioned souls like myself.

Guru Mahārāja, I still cherish the memory of our first darśana of you in mid-November 2022 at the Bhubaneswar Airport, when we requested to be accepted as your disciples, and you instantly accepted our request. The very next day, we were initiated and took shelter at your lotus feet. It was totally unplanned, as we were just visiting Puri on our holidays. Your compassion towards fallen souls brings tears to my eyes.

Your commitment to fulfilling the instructions of Śrīla Prabhupāda is truly inspiring, and I pray at your lotus feet that I, your most insignificant servant, may also inculcate even a fraction of such commitment. I am a fallen and useless spiritual son, who has not yet developed the desired qualities needed to progress and serve in this glorious movement of Śrīla Prabhupāda. You are my only hope for deliverance from the clutches of Māyā.

Despite your health challenges and busy schedule, you always remember your disciples worldwide by giving darśana on Saturdays after Bhāgavatam class. You never miss an opportunity to give the holy names to the conditioned souls—even from the ICU—which is truly incomparable. In the Ādi Purāṇa, Kṛṣṇa said to Arjuna: "My dear Pārtha, one who claims to be My devotee is not so. Only a person who desires to be the devotee of My devotee is actually My devotee." Therefore, in Vaiṣṇavism, one must take shelter of a devotee by accepting him as a spiritual master and render service to him as a representative of the Lord. Please empower me so that I can be your devoted servant.

In the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 10.80.34, it is stated:

nāham ijyā-prajātibhyāṁ
tapasopaśamena vā
tuṣyeyaṁ sarva-bhūtātmā
guru-śuśrūṣayā yathā

Translation:
"I, the Soul of all beings, am not as satisfied by ritual worship, brahminical initiation, penances, or self-discipline as I am by faithful service rendered to one’s spiritual master."

This verse has deeply impacted me, and I intend to apply its wisdom in my devotional life. I will humbly attempt to prioritize service to you, Guru Mahārāja, above all external rituals or austerities. I hope to cultivate the attitude of humbly serving you with full dedication, understanding that it is through your grace and instructions that I can progress on this spiritual path.

Please forgive me for any offenses I may have committed while trying to serve in this wonderful movement. You are the ocean of mercy and compassion. I desire to receive the dust of your lotus feet in every birth I take from this moment onward and serve this movement of Lord Caitanya.

Your fallen and insignificant servant,
Sudha Sindhu Kṛṣṇa Dāsa (dīkṣā)
