Dear Jayapatākā Guru Mahārāja,
Please accept my respectful and humble obeisances on this auspicious occasion of your Divine Appearance Day.
All glories to the shade of your lotus feet, which protects from the forest fire of this material world. All glories to His Divine Grace Śrīla Prabhupāda!
My half-sister, who was eleven years older and a professional model, taught me from the start to put the body at the center of attention. My brother and I were even engaged as children's models. Only... that was not at all our nature.
But this engagement combined with my analytical nature—a tendency to observe, scrutinize, and uncover the flaws in things—led me deeper into the entanglement of material matters. I encountered a flow of bad experiences. Yet, fortunate enough to be swept into the flower power youth movement, I, like my brother (who invited me), traveled to India and learned about Śrīla Prabhupāda.
Then you, Guru Mahārāja, brought me happiness and killed my demonic nature. You invested in me with your causeless compassion, accepted my dirty, steel-hard heart, and have slowly softened and cleansed it by your constant teachings.
You have compassionately shown me Lord Caitanya’s mercy and the path of dedicated service.
Now I hope to always keep Kṛṣṇa in mind as I carry out my daily duties. Although I actually have no hope of achieving this ideal on my own, I will continue to perform my sādhana, stumbling, and still stick with it—only by your mercy.
With eternal gratitude,
Please forgive my offenses.
Eternally indebted,
Your aspiring spiritual daughter,
Anuttamā Rādhā Devī Dāsī
