O my dear beloved Gurudeva,
Please accept my millions and millions of humble and prostrated obeisances unto your lotus feet.
All glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda. All glories to your divine appearance day.
On this most auspicious 76th appearance day of Your Holiness, how can I possibly glorify your magnanimous divine qualities? I am a very tiny, fallen soul, unable to glorify you properly. Still, I will try, within my limited capacity, for my purification.
When I first met you, you gave me a suggestion that later came true. You gave me first initiation, and once jokingly said, "Normally you treat go (cows), now you treat the Guru." Another day, you engaged me in dressing your wounds. Once, you allowed me to give fomentation to your feet. These tiny services brought such great spiritual benefit. Though I am fallen, you engaged me in your service—how merciful you are!
In the early days of our association, you instructed me to preach the message of the Lord. You said that some would preach in a small area and others in a larger area, according to their capacity, but all should try. Now, I am doing my best to follow your divine instruction, which is my heart and soul.
O Gurudeva, when I face difficulties, I pray to you to give me the strength of tolerance to overcome them.
I continue to beg for your causeless mercy so that I may fulfill your desires—even if it takes me life after life.
O Gurudeva!
I am eternally bound to sense gratification, yet I yearn to engage all my senses in the service of the Lord. I want to serve you better and better—please direct me accordingly. I have now entered the vānaprastha-āśrama, and I seek your blessings to gain the strength to follow your instructions sincerely and fully.
Please bless this fallen and insignificant soul with your causeless mercy.
Your fallen, insignificant servant,
Nanda Kṛṣṇa Dāsa Vānacārī
