Dear Guru Maharaja,
Please accept my respectful obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
All glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga.

I had the great fortune and causeless mercy of vaishnavas to be able to see you my dear Gurudeva in the Madurai Guru Ajna retreat held on Mar 29th & 30th.   Every day that we heard from your nectarean lips in the form of instructions and encouragement, is a lifetime of batteries being recharged.

We heard from so many of your senior sannyasi and other disciples, and all of them are reflecting your mood and mission is some way, shape or form.  How to have faith in your Guru’s instructions – this was crystallized for me by hearing from other senior disciples through their realizations, through their struggles and their endless desire to please you.

To be faithful to Guru’s instructions, one must simply and blindly put in the efforts that are necessary to please Guru and Krishna, and the rest of it is set in motion through the causeless mercy of Guru, Srila Prabhupada and the entire Guru Parampara.

One should not spend too much time worrying – am I qualified, do I have the necessary skills, can I find some extra time, what do I have to give up in order to take on something, what if I fail, etc? These are not the musings of a genuine disciple, a disciple can best please their spiritual master by having faith that the Guru’s instructions are pristine and faultless, there is no room for doubts or questions.  There is only determination, enthusiasm and a never give up spirit, that can propel us towards fulfilling these instructions.

My dear Gurudeva, you showed us your unlimited enthusiasm and determination to please your spiritual master.  Thank you for sharing this with us, so that we may also be inspired by your faith in Srila Prabhupada’s instructions.

You said everyone can become a Guru, one must only repeat what Sri Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita and what acaryas say – simply by doing this we can please you and Srila Prabhupada.

You have shown us how you are so focused on connecting every jivatma to Sri Krishna.  Recently I heard from HG Madhava Kanta pr, that you were coming back from the hospital (ILS in Delhi) and you had to catch a flight from Delhi to Mayapur.  Your disciples wanted you to take some rest before the journey, but you instructed them that you wanted to visit the temple.  There in the temple were 100s of children who had come on a field trip and you spent some time with them.  Your servants were encouraging you to cut short the temple visit for some rest, but on the way you passed the museum and there were visitors there, and you told your servants, I want to preach to them, and so you did.

Once your lunch prasadam was late in getting to the hospital and your servant was upset about it, somehow or the other, he got some other devotee to bring the prasadam from the temple to the hospital by bike.  And when the prasadam arrived an hour late, you said this is for Madhava Kanta pr.  You wanted to meet pr, but prabhu thought that you should have your prasadam first and only then he will meet you.  But you said, no I want to meet Madhava Kanta pr and thank him first, and so Madhava Kanta pr came, he was feeling embarrassed that his spiritual master was thanking him, although he was the cause for the prasadam arriving late.  You told him, do you know why I am thanking you – because the prasadam arrived an hour late, I had the opportunity to preach to one of the doctors and encourage him to chant.  You gave me an opportunity to preach – so I am thanking you!
It was Purushottham month and Madhava Kanta pr wrote you an email seeking your blessings for his vrat.  Among his vrat, was austere eating and increased chanting.  You replied to him, I am okay with your other vows, but why do you want to chant 32 rounds during these four months.  You gave him an example, once you were chanting on the rooftop of the Kolkata temple and Srila Prabhupada asked you – what are you doing, Oh Prabhupada I am completing 32 rounds.  Srila Prabhupada looked at you and said “you are the temple president – if you spend time chanting 32 rounds, who will go out and preach?”

Your mood is simply a reflection of Srila Prabhupada’s mood.  There is no time to waste, there is so much to do to please your spiritual master.  Srila Prabhupada worked with urgency to connect every single soul to Sri Krishna, and therefore you are simply passing on that same instruction and mood to your disciples.

Thank you for showing me what it means to please your Guru. How much energy, dedication and sacrifice is needed in this preaching movement of ours.  With your blessings, please give me the strength, energy and good sense to try and please you.

My earnest prayers to Sri Sri Lakshmi Narasimhadev to protect you, keep you in good health and give you a long life.

Your insignificant servant,
Navadvipa Saci Devi Dasi
