Suvarṇakānti Mādhavī Devī Dāsī ( - India)

“I went to your country with a mission, and you all good souls were sent by Kṛṣṇa to me.”
—Śrīla Prabhupāda

One of the good souls sent by Kṛṣṇa to Śrīla Prabhupāda is His Holiness Jayapatākā Svāmī Mahārāja, who has been serving Śrīla Prabhupāda as a “selfless worker” for over three decades.

Śrīla Prabhupāda had the vision of a Temple of the Vedic Planetarium to be built in Māyāpur. He was engaging scientists, asking them to study the Fifth Canto and construct the planetarium, and he also instructed Jayapatākā Mahārāja to figure it out.

One time, when Jayapatākā Mahārāja entered the room to see Śrīla Prabhupāda, he was told, “I have given you the kingdom of God. Now develop it.” Jayapatākā Mahārāja took this statement both seriously and humorously.

During the early development of Śrī Māyāpur Candrodaya Mandira, the presiding Deities of the mandira, Śrī Śrī Rādhā Mādhava, were brought to Māyāpur. Jayapatākā Mahārāja recognized Them from a dream he had years earlier while preaching in the West.

In 1977, ISKCON Māyāpur was attacked by local villagers. They attempted to seize everything, and devotees were arrested. At that time, His Holiness Jayapatākā Svāmī Mahārāja mobilized the locals and organized a massive procession from Māyāpur to the Chand Kazi samādhi and then to the Jagannātha temple. About 25,000 people participated in the march, which included 168 kīrtana groups.
